Join me on a pilgrimage to Early Christian sites - May 2008

Many of you know that the last time I went on a spiritual pilgrimage (August 2006, last year), I was back-packing through Italy, Eastern Europe and Turkey. On that trip, there were sometimes a bed at night, sometimes not, sometimes a shower, but often not, sometimes the security of both a roof and a locking door at night, but usually not, sometimes the opportunity to wash out one's clothing in a sink at night, but more often rotating one's dirty clothes for several days at a time, sometimes no meal, lots of surprises about where one ended up on any given day... lots of blisters!!) To read my blog posts about that trip, click on "August 2006" in the Archives, to the lower right of this webpage.

Although I absolutely loved that trip, I am well-aware that most people when travelling -- normal people! -- prefer a locked door at night, a comfortable bed to sleep in, a daily shower, and the confidence of 3 good meals -- hopefully seated at a nice table with linens and tableware!

So... let me invite you to come with me on a great 12-day pilgrimage to early Christian sites including Rome, Pompeii, Athens, Istanbul, Ephesus, and few others. But this trip will be more relaxed, with daily showers, gourmet cuisine, and with a comfortable bed made up daily by a room steward who even leaves a chocolate mint on your pillow! (This trip will be so comfortable I'll wonder whether I'm really on pilgrimage!)

We'll fly to Rome, ship out on the cruise ship Freedom, and wake up in Naples -- off to visit the magnificent site of Pompeii. That evening we'll set down to a wonderful meal, and at last drift blissfully of to sleep, knowing that even great wonders lie ahead!

Are you ready for this? For full information, see the St Mark's website, and click on Pilgrimage, and then on "Early Christianity, May 2008"

You don't have to be a member of St Marks, or even a Christian, to go on this pilgrimage. Just be a friend, with an interest in discovering more about God.

Cheers,
