Why do the Scriptures tempt me to wickedness?

Working on the Scriptures for this Sunday:

I couldn't help myself. I just HAD to point out to Jeanne that God was coaching Samuel how to lie to Saul. (1 Samuel 15:34-16:13)

The really important question is this: Why didn't God ever coach ME in deception when I was trying to avoid getting in trouble at home or school when I was a teenager?
